Short Short Stories by Hoshi Shinichi

星新一 (1926-1997) is a novelist and science ficgtion writer; he is particularly famous for writing more than 1,000 "short short" stories. One of the most well-know story, 『ボッコちゃん』 , has been used for reading text at KU. His writing style tends to avoid implications to particular events, people or nations. Thus, the story can be read and accepted, irrespective of the time and place.

村上春樹 (1949-) is a popular contemporary Japanese novelist who also have been actively translating American literature into Japanese. The list below are a few examples of short stories Murakami has translated.
