*Japanese Studies General Guide: E-Resources by Academic Institutions

A multi-year, cross-national research effort that examines the role of domestic identities and foreign policy debates of aspiring powers in Asia, the RPI brings together an internationally recognized team of scholars to analyze and compare the foreign policy thinking in today’s rising powers. Hosted by the Sigur Center for Asian Studies at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.

IRDB, which superseded JAIRO in April 2019, harvests the metadata of academic resources (journal articles, theses or dissertations, departmental bulletin papers, research papers, etc.) accumulated in academic institutional repositories in Japan. Combining the "Union Catalogue of Early Japanese Books" and the "Database of Pre-Modern Japanese Works," this new database is the largest digital reference on pre-modern Japanese works. This allows users to search and use bibliographic information and high-resolution images of Japanese manuscripts and prints before Edo period, held by the National Institute of Japanese Literature and many other institutions and owners at home and overseas.

This site provides digital collection of works by Shibusawa Keizo (1896-1963), a Japanese businessman, central banker and philanthropist. At age 17 he became the successor of his grandfather Shibusawa Eiichi, a Japanese industrialist known as the "father of Japanese capitalism."
