As a transborderlands digital humanities project, BAC is dedicated to locating, mapping, and facilitating access to 19th and mid-20th century newspapers from 1808 to the 1930s from the United States-Mexico border region. BAC visualizes and deepens the understanding of the region, its communities, and histories through primary sources incorporated in a digital map. Through this digital map, a transborder digital archive is created that unites local, national, and bi-national histories in a territory that has faced various geopolitical transitions.

American Identities in Public Memorials hosts memory studies projects for the introductory American Studies course at the University of Kansas, "American Identities." For these projects, students research public memorials in their communities, considering how these memorials work to serve or counter hegemonic identity formation. In the summer of 2019, students wrote blog posts based on in-person fieldwork. In the summer of 2020, students completed a mapping project and a similar blog project based on digital research. These projects allow students to explore the topic of memorialization broadly in relation to the themes of the class while learning various digital humanities and public-facing writing skills.

Mapping Inequality opens the HOLC files at the National Archives to scholars, students, and residents and policy leaders in local communities. This site makes the well-known security maps of HOLC available in digital form, as well as the data and textual assessments of the area descriptions that were created to go with the maps. By bringing study of HOLC into the digital realm, Mapping Inequality embraces a big data approach that can simultaneously give a national view of the program or a neighborhood-level assessment of the 1930s real estate rescue. Project researchers are providing access to some of the digital tools and interactive resources they are using in their own research, in the hope that the public will be able to understand the effects of federal housing policy and local implementation in their own communities.
