The "Hot Topics" Congressional Hearings are tagged and arranged by broad subject terms developed by the Congressional Research Service. These broad subjects are used for the more narrow terms defined in the CRS taxonomy.
Use the "search this guide", located on the right just below the page tabs, to search the guide by narrower subject terms. For example, a search for "child" will lead you to the "Families" hot topics page while "children" will lead you to the "Crime and Law Enforcement" hot topics page.
Hot topics are constantly changing, therefore, keep in mind that hot topic subjects will vary in what is available.
The links will direct you to the Senate or House Congressional Committee web-page for a specific hearing. Please note hearing tagged web-pages will link to the page presented by the "majority" party at the time of the hearing. For example House of Representative hearings held in 2010 will link to the pages from the "Democrats" websites, where as the hearings held during 2011 will link to the pages from the "Republicans" websites. The two parties do not always present the same factual information related a hearing.
Please note that as the control of House Committees switches form the "Democrats" to the "Republicans" with the start of the 112th Congress the URLs for some hearings will no longer exist. These broken links are being repaired as discovered and when a new URL can be identified. To better understand the need for the URLs to change please review the House Rules.
