Defining Art Fairs
Although the term "art fairs" can be applied to everything from the international Art Basel or Frieze Art Fair in London to the annual Holiday Art Fair held at the Lawrence Art Center, it is the former entity addressed here. In recent decades, these art fairs, which are largely supported by commercial galleries, have focused on the presentation and sale of work by new and emerging artists.
