Serbia: Articles & Databases

The peer-reviewed scholarlly journal of the North American Society for Serbian Studies, Serbian Studies publishes scholarly articles in all aspects of the Serbian cultural heritage, archival documents, and source material related to the Serbian immigration to North America. Founded in 1978, the NASSS is an organizational member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.

Published articles is mostly about the questions concerning the past of the Serbian people from the 16th to the 20th century. The key intention of our research will be Serbian history, seen as part of the Balkan historical, geopolitical and social milieu. The Ottoman, Austrian and Venetian histories, the modern Serbian state, its origins and development, the communism and socialism of the 20th century present a great challenge for the historical research because the Serbs at that time lived within boundaries of Central European, the Mediterranean and the Eastern world.

The Applied Linguistics Association of Serbia (ALAS) continues the tradition of The Yugoslav Society of Applied Linguistics, founded in 1973, with its seat at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. The first issue of the Association's annual journal Примењена лингвистика [Applied Linguistics] was published in 2000(ISSN 1451-7124, CIP 81`33). The journal is published once a year and accepts contributions in Serbian, English, German, French, Russian, Italian and Spanish.

Juznoslovenski filolog is an annual publication in Serbian and English that publishes research in Serbian linguistics. Published by Institute for the Serbian Language of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). Founded in 1913 by Aleksandar Belic and Ljubomir Stojanovic, it is one of the oldest Slavic journals.
