Lithuanian Film Centre works consistently to digitize and restore the heritage of Lithuanian classical cinema for preservation and public access, providing distribution of these films nationally and abroad.

Here is a throwback to some of the most cinematic locations in two Lithuanian cities, Vilnius and Kaunas, where various well-known movies and series were filmed.

Vytautas Žalakevičius (1930-1996) was a Soviet and Lithuanian film director and screenwriter. His best known movie, "Nobody Wanted to Die" (1965), starring Lithuanian and Latvian actors, brought him international recognition, and his 1973 film "That Sweet Word: Liberty!" won the Golden Prize at the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. Šarūnas Bartas (b. 1964) is one of the most prominent Lithuanian film directors. His 2015 film 'Peace to Us in Our Dreams' was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Ilja Bereznickas (b. 1948) is a Lithuanian animator, illustrator, scriptwriter, and caricaturist. Throughout his life he has been creating many illustrated books and caricatures, and from 1973 onward, Ilja has been participating in exhibitions of cartoons worldwide. Follow the link to learn more.
