Library Resources for KU Alumni: In-Library Access & Services

This guide contains information regarding library services and resources for KU Alumni Association Members.

Community Access Workstations

Community Access Workstations are computers available for KU campus visitors, including alumni, in each of the following Lawrence campus KU Libraries:

Anschutz Library                                Gorton Music & Dance Library

Murphy Art & Architecture Library      Spahr Engineering Library

Watson Library

Community Access workstations provide access to many KU Libraries databases, e-journals and e-books.

Library visitors should stop by the circulation desk at these locations in order to gain access to one of the Community Access Workstations.  The desk supervisor will issue the visitor a 60-minute reservation ticket for logging into the computer. Detailed information concerning the workstations can be found at https://lib.ku.edu/community-access-workstations.

Circulating & Non-Circulating Collections

Circulating and non-circulating materials, including reference, closed stack, and journal collections, may be used in the libraries.

Non-circulating materials may be used in the libraries only.

Borrowing of circulating materials requires a KU Library Borrower Card. KU Library Borrower Cards are available for Kansas residents as well as non-resident KU Alumni Association members in good standing for $20/year from the Watson Library Circulation Desk.

Please read the procedures and policies for obtaining and using a KU Library Borrower Card at http://policy.ku.edu/libraries/library-borrower-card.

Scanning, Printing, & Copying

Scanning:  Free scanning is available in most library locations. You will want to bring a USB flash drive to save scanned documents, or you can choose to send them to your email.

Printing & Copying:

Visitors must purchase Visitor Printing/Copying Access at the services desk at either Anschutz Library (cash/checks, exact amt. only) or Watson Library (cash/checks/credit/debit).  Access can be purchased in 3 amounts - $1.00, $5.00, or $10.00.

Visitors can use their Visitor Printing/Copying Access at Anschutz, Watson, Art & Architecture, Music & Dance, Spahr, and the Wheat Law Library.

In-Library Wireless Access

Wireless Beacon Image Alumni and other visitors who wish to use their own laptops while visiting campus have access to the KUGuest Wireless NetworkThis is not a secure wireless network but can be used for occasional campus visitors.  Visitors using KUGuest who wish to access a wide range of the library databases should use the Community Access Workstations, as KUGuest does not allow access to most of the databases available on the workstations.
