Historiography: Citation Searching

This guide provides some basic tips and resources to find historiographical essays and trace how citations in historical writings.

Google Schoar

Use “ “ to search for the exact title of abook or article in Google Scholar. Be sure to look for variant citations in the results list. Click on the "Cited by" link for a list of works citing the searched title. If you are off campus, use the Google Scholar link provided by the KU Libraries so you can easily access electronic materials held by KU.   

 

 

HathiTrust

HathiTrust provides access to the collections of some of the United States’ largest academic libraries. it is a great place to look for citations. Use the Advanced version of the "Full-text Search" and enter the entire title in the search box and select search "this exact phrase."  If you log on using your KU Online ID you can download texts not under copyright.
