The KU Libraries have information resources from a number of government and quasi-government organizations including the U.S. Federal Government, United Nations, European Union, United Kingdom, State of Kansas, and international organizations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Materials are available in a variety of formats including print, microformat, computerized media, and via the Internet. Most materials are housed in Anschutz Library; NASA items are in the Spahr Engineering Library. State of Kansas materials are in the Kansas Collection in Spencer Research Library.
Print materials issued by the United States Federal Government are shelved using SuDocs numbers (Superintendent of Documents Classification), a string of letters and numbers used to identify and label these publications. The letters beginning each SuDocs classification number refer to the government agency responsible for the publication. The KU Libraries have served as a Federal Depository Library for US government information since 1869 and as a Regional [Depository] Library for Kansas since 1976.
It is the KU Libraries' responsibility to make government information available to all users including the University community, residents of the state of Kansas, and other members of the general public. This includes access for individuals who do not have a KU Card or a KU Library Borrower Card. Please talk with your local circulation supervisor to identify options for individuals who do not have a card, do not want to purchase a card, and/or who do not qualify for a card.
The Learning Studio is a partnership of the KU Libraries, Student Success, and KU Information Technology. Services are provided by the Libraries, Academic Achievement and Access Center Tutoring Services, KU Info, KU Writing Center, Information Technology, and KU Dining.
