Thomas R. Smith Map Library

The T. R. Smith Map Library is currently located on level one of Anschutz Library on the Lawrence (main) campus of the University of Kansas.  The physical collections consists of over 330,000 sheet maps, approximately 120,000 aerial photographs, and several thousand folio and oversized atlases (octavo and quarto sized atlases are held in the general stacks).  Regional strengths of the collection include: North America, Europe, Latin America (especially Costa Rica), Japan, and Zanzibar. Other notable strengths include over 20,000 unbound serial set maps, a large number of captured maps from the Second World War, and nearly complete coverage of the Joint Operational Graphics (JOG) series.
