Language Profile

The Hausa (also known as Hausawa, Haoussa, Ausa, Haɓe, Mgbakpa or Kaɗo) are the largest ethnic group in West Africa and one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa. The largest Hausa populations are concentrated in northern Nigeria and southeastern Niger, but significant numbers can also be found in parts of Cameroon, Chad, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and Sudan, and along the traditional Hajj route across the Sahara Desert, especially around the town of Agadez.

The links below and those on other pages of this Hausa LibGuide will direct you to resources useful in the study of the Hausa people, their language and culture.
